  • Passed the CSC Resolution (April 4, 2019)

    Passing this resolution confirmed the Town of Chatham’s dedication to Climate Smart principles, and their involvement in the program.

  • Formed the CSC Task Force and named a Coordinator (2019)


    Identified passionate and talented individuals to make the implemention of Chatham’s Climate Smart program a reality.

  • Joined a regional climate program, Clean Energy Communities (CEC) (2017)

    Chatham has been designated as a Clean Energy Community by NYSERDA.

  • Adopted New York’s unified solar permit (2017)

    The New York Solar Permi allows for an expedited solar permitting process.

  • Solar Mapping with Scenic Hudson (2020)

    Partnered with Scenic Hudson to develop a web-based interactive tool that combines mapped information with education and guidance to help your community proactively plan for smart solar energy development.

  • Solarize Chatham Community Solar Campaign (2021)

    The Solarize Chatham campaign provided information to residents, and the opportunity to have part of their energy use powered by either Delaware River Solar or Astral Power, two solar energy companies.


  • Conducted a benchmarking audit of municipal building energy use (2018-on, annually)

    By establishing the energy usage at municipal buildings, we have a baseline record for tracking usage going forward. (Further info, and the report on Town of Chatham website.)

    Conducted a Streams and Culvert Management Plan (2018)

    We made it! Chatham has done the work to earn bronze certification for planning and implementation actions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve community resilience to climate change. On to silver, the highest level of certification!
